Life update: Exams... +dreaming of coffee and summer

Hi guys!

I just finished my first out of three exams today! It was about antique and middle age history, and I am so happy to be done with it. I think I at least can get a passing grade, and that is good enough for me right now. So now there is time for me to freak out about the exam that's coming up on Friday. So as the good student I pretend to be, I went back to studying after I finished the exam. Most likely gonna spend all day tomorrow as well studying. So not much to write about these days...

One thing I am really excited about though, other that no more exams, is that in two weeks time I have summer vacation! :D
So excited to go back home and see my friends again. I miss them so much. And I am in extreme need of a Therapy Coffee Date with my best friend! <3 So that is my great motivation for finishing these exams. I can already smell the coffee. And hear the birds sing, if the weather will allow sitting outside.

This has become a pathetic excuse of an update post, so now I think I better go to bed and get some sleep instead. Dream of some coffee. Maybe I'll be a bit more writable tomorrow?

Until next time.. <3

17th of May; How I Celebrated Norway's National Day!

Hi everyone!

Yesterday was May 17th; Norway's national day! :D
I did not have the time to blog that day what so ever. The day was packed with fun and national pride. I had so much fun! We walked a lot, ate a lot and drank beer with great people.

The day started with a champagne breakfast together with some friends. We popped the champagne bottle, ate pavlova and watched the children's parade in Oslo and the royal family waving at the people + celebrations from all around Norway on the TV.

When we finished eating and drinking, we made our way into town to walk in the main parade together with our history student association. The parade was filled with all sorts of student associations, local associations, marching bands and other groups of people. Even the Norwegian stormtroopers group walked in the parade. It was really cool!

Stormtroopers!!

After a lot of walking, cheering and dancing in the parade, we went to take some photos with our student association. Also got to take some group photos with my friends. After the photos were taken people kinda scattered all over the place. We decided, true to tradition, to go stuff our faces with ice-cream and hot dogs. Yum!

Next up we just wandered around a little, looking at all the people and stall with food. Ended up getting myself a slice of pizza since, since for some weird reason a hot dog and ice-cream did not satisfy my hunger.

Then we watched the russetog (parade full of russ). Quite nostalgic watching them, made me miss my time as a russ. After watching them jump and dance around through the streets, we made our way over to a pub to get a beer. And after finishing one beer, we headed over to eat a pizza (everyone was quite hungry after walking a lot that day).

russ^^

When the pizza had been devoured, we headed back to the pub to grab some more beer and catch up with more people. And then we went home.

I have to say, jumping into bed was pure heaven after all that walking! Fell asleep once my head hit my pillow.

This year was my first time celebrating our national day away from home, and it was quite weird, but it was nice. Since I had my friends with me, it was all good.

Hope this was interesting for you to read, and maybe you learned something new about our celebration of the national day.

Until next time.. <3

Norway's National Day; A quick intro

Hello people of the world!

Today I thought I'd write about the big day of celebration in Norway; our national day!
Norway's national day is on the 17th of May every year. Which is like in a few days time!? So it is time to prepare for celebration. Every nation has a national day, and they are celebrated differently, and we Norwegian are no different. We take it all out. Our celebration is so full of joy and pride, and I think I can say we do celebrate it quite uniquely.

Children carrying flags and walking in parades together with marching bands. Stuffing our faces with ice-cream and hot dogs. Buildings and windows decorated with the Norwegian flag. Flags hoisted and waving in the wind at almost every house. Men and women wearing their Bunad; our national costume, or at least dressed really nicely. High school students wearing their Russebukse, which I've talked about before, running around passing out Russekort (mock business cards) to children who collect them, and they basically just run around blowing whistles and making loads of noise. Children running around with a potato on a spoon, throwing balls on cans stacked or potato sack racing. And people everywhere being happy and shining with pride for this country. This kinda sums up our national day, even though I most likely have forgotten something. I could probably sit here all night describing what goes on. But I don't have that attention span right now because I need to study for exams. But I think I will try to film as much as I can the 17th. And then you can see what it is like. Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.

I can not describe how much I am looking forward to this day. It is such a happy day where we celebrate our country, but also our royal family. They are very much the center of the celebration. It has been like that since we got our freedom from Sweden in 1905.

Hopefully I will get loads of great footage from the celebration. Now I need to go through my closet to find out what I will be wearing, because this might take me days to figure out...

Until next time... <3

I won a giveaway!! :D

Hi everyone!

Guess what!? I won something! :D
It's quite rare for me to win giveaways or contests that I enter, but this time I actually won!

So I entered a giveaway hosted by TokyoGirlsUpdate a while back, and a few weeks ago I got a mail saying that I won! And a couple of days ago I could go to the post office to fetch my package.

On my way to pick up the package! :D

Now you are probably wondering what I won. I won a box of 20 Black Thunder Chocolate Bar! And I can tell you this; they are delicious! <3 I think they taste kinda like chocolate covered Oreos.

I did film a video of me opening and trying the chocolate out, so here you go. If you wanna see my reaction and my thoughts on the Black Thunder Chocolate:

Until next time... <3

What do I do with my life?

Hello!

It is now the 1st of May! Almost halfway through 2015!! Time really flies.. Almost finished my first year of university. That's a weird thought, since it feels like I just started studying. When you notice how fast time flies, you often start thinking; "What am I doing with my time?" We are always told that these years are the best years of our lives. That we should enjoy it while we can. That we should just use this time to travel and discover yourself. I would love to travel and discover the different cultures and people around the world. Sadly money tends to play a big role when it comes to traveling. I could always just go backpacking and just randomly find a place to stay day by day, but I don't think I am spontaneous enough to do that. I kinda like to know that I have somewhere safe to sleep when I am traveling. Education is also something important that I would like to have, and the best time to get a proper education without having to spend a ridiculous amount of money, is when we are fresh out of high school. So of course I want to finish school and get a bachelor degree. It will always be handy to have, and it can function as a safety net later in life. So as much as the desire to travel the world is burning, I will finish what I started, and then I would really like to travel. But I don't want to plan too much of my future, because that's the magical thing about the future; there is no way of knowing what will happen. I try to take life a day at a time and enjoy it.

Life is really unpredictable, for example I have no idea where I will be living after summer vacation. My roommate and her boyfriend are moving in together, so of course I will have to find somewhere else to live. Now this wasn't anything that came as a surprise to me, since I knew he was moving here this fall anyway. But my point is that things always change. And the only thing we can do is face these new changes with a smile and an open mind. I know that I will find somewhere to live. I have already applied for a student dorm, but I don't know which I will get, so that is kinda exciting. It will be a new adventure in my life. And of course I know that I have friends who will back me up if I fail completely at finding a place. But come on, I will always find something. ^^ It always works out in the end.

When it comes to school, in fall I will be starting my third semester where I will be studying an extra subject instead of history. I will most likely be studying religious studies, not because I am a very religious person, but because I think it's very interesting to learn about the different religions that are around the world, and how they came to be. I am mostly looking forward to the south-asian religions with mainly hinduism and buddhism, but it is still interesting to learn about the others as well. This is also a topic that is very current. I think it's important to understand the way things function in all parts of the world, and that includes the different religious aspects, since it is such a big part of different countries' culture.

Until next time~
